🎶 Rubab Music Tools

1. Rubab Instrument

The main string instrument itself, carved from wood, with a hollow body covered with animal skin and gut or nylon strings.

2. Plectrum / Pick (Mizrab)

A small tool made of wood, plastic, or horn used to pluck the strings. Some players use their fingers, but the pick gives a stronger, more resonant sound.

3. Tuning Pegs

Found at the head of the instrument, these wooden pegs are used to tighten or loosen the strings to tune the Rubab properly.

4. Strings

Rubab usually has:

  • 3 main melody strings

  • 2–3 drone strings

  • 9–15 sympathetic strings (which vibrate and add richness to the sound)

5. Digital Tuner

Helps you tune the strings accurately, especially for beginners or in noisy environments.

6. Microphone or Pickup

Used during live performances or studio recordings to amplify the sound of the Rubab without losing its natural tone.

7. Carrying Case

A soft or hard protective case that keeps the Rubab safe during transport or storage.

8. Rosin (optional)

While not commonly used for Rubab, some musicians use a small amount on the pick or fingers to enhance grip and tone.
