About Us

Sandaara School of Music & Arts is an Islamabad-based institution dedicated to music education, cultural preservation, and artistic advocacy, with a special focus on Pashto music and related art forms. The name Sandaara, meaning “music” in Pashto, comes from San (tone)—a concept shared across civilizations, linking Pashto Sandara, Hindi Sangeet, English Song, and the Vedic Sama. This reflects our philosophy: music is both a universal language and a locally grounded cultural force.

Our Mission

We aim to preserve traditional knowledge while embracing contemporary learning and production. By institutionalizing oral traditions, documenting indigenous instruments, and supporting classical genres, Sandaara connects heritage with innovation, artists with institutions, and music with society. We believe music can be a powerful tool for inclusive expression, peacebuilding, democratic participation, and sustainable livelihoods. Through education, research, and cultural initiatives, we nurture a holistic ecosystem where music thrives in all its forms. Why Sandaara?

At Sandaara, music is more than an art—it is a cultural bridge, a source of identity, and a tool for social transformation. By blending heritage and innovation, we create spaces where artists, learners, and communities can connect, collaborate, and thrive.
